Biography
The Dreamers were one of the relatively few all-female doo wop groups in the mid-'50s, recording several singles on which they backed noted R&B singer Richard Berry. They did just one single under their own name, "Do Not Forget"/"Since You've Been Gone," which came out on Flip in 1957. They also recorded a 1954 single billed as the Dreamers Featuring Richard Berry, and also did a couple of singles for Class as the Rollettes. They were more pop-influenced than most doo wop groups of the time, but sang effectively on their now-obscure singles with Berry. Their name was changed to the Blossoms when they were signed to Capitol Records in 1957. The Blossoms recorded singles for several labels, but are most known as one of the most prominent session backup-vocal groups of the early '60s. Darlene Love, the most famous member of the Blossoms, actually did not join the group until 1963, and was not a member of the Dreamers.
