There's a cake in store for Seal this weekend, as he celebrates his 48th birthday [Feb. 19]. The singer earned a degree in architecture, then worked various jobs around London, including electrical engineering and sewing leather clothes at a high-end boutique. His music career began as part of a funk music group, but in 1990, a dance track he'd written took off in the clubs. "Crazy" put him on the map, and 'Kiss from A Rose," written for the Batman Forever soundtrack, cemented his position as a superstar. The distinctive scars on his face are a result of a rare autoimmune disease [now in remission]; as a young man, he came to view them as an omen of success. Seal has been married to model Heidi Klum since 2005. His latest album is Commitment.
