Simply Red are simply done. The band played their final show in London on Sunday night [Dec. 19], ending a 25-year career before a sold-out audience at The O2 Arena. During the performance, singer Mick Hucknall told the crowd, "I want to thank you so much for your support over the last 25 years. It's been the most wonderful ride." At the conclusion of the show, Hucknall announced, “Good night, adios, Simply Red are no more” then walked offstage. Throughout their career, the band sold 55 million records worldwide.
Dave Koz has been doing his annual Christmas tour for years – but that’s no guarantee that everything will always go as planned. Apparently, Friday’s show in San Diego was plagued by Grinch-y gremlins. Writing on his Facebook page, Koz noted, “Strangest night…in San Diego, fire alarm went off just as we were going on stage. Everyone had to vacate bldg. Show went on 30 min late, only to more tech probs! But we made it thru thanks to an understanding SD audience!” This year’s tour features Candy Dulfer, Brian Culbertson and Jonathan Butler – all of whom have no doubt also experienced the unexpected on stage. Dave Koz And Friends, A Smooth Jazz Christmas rolls on through Dec. 20. Check out a new version of “Silent Night” he did with singer Dana Glover.
